friends

people whom you think are your real friends may not be so, and don't last the test of time. people whom you think are just your casual friends, may just be the ones who are with you through the events in your life, and provide you with support and encouragement. it's a huge joke. some friends i know for just a few months, can provide more support than people i've known forever. some acquaintances i've known for many years, can turn to become your good friends in your time of need.

i'm truly grateful to those who remain even when i was gone for 4 years to the US, and to new friendships i've nurtured after coming back home and starting life here anew. i've learnt not to be too judgemental, to welcome people into my life with kindness, givingness and caution but not suspicion; to recipocrate as soon as i can and not delay and take relationships for granted. but i've also learnt to not hold on to sinking ships, and to let go when it's time to let go...
