taesha + rubiah

taesha and rubiah belong to the hua sub-species of the queer and freakish family of forest monsters. these forest monsters are known as such because their origin is unknown and it seemed like they have just sprouted all over the forest overnight, in all colors, shapes, and sizes, terrorizing the other forest creatures with their oddly monstrous behavior! the hua sub-species are distinguished from their very colorful and flowery exteriors.

taesha and rubiah are each approximately 7” tall and 5” broad, and are made of cotton fabric, felt material, plastic beads, wool and synthetic polyester filling.

our forestprints ART section is finally up! yeah! i'm still working on adding many more drawings and paintings done by me, which will be added in these few weeks ;)

i've not stated before, but the ART section not only comprises of small paintings done by me, but also stuff from my dad. he works under his mandarin name ~ ruikun. well, my dad's an artist, since.. forever.. i love his obsessive pen drawings, which have a nature theme to them. he's mostly an abstract painter but does a few sculptures now and then, an art collector, chinese antique curator, and gallery owner.

i was suppose to have started work on his website long ago... but it was just impossible to squeeze out anymore time for this extra project... sorry dad...

oh, and i'm not going crazy or anything, mao... so don't worry lady.. my mood may be crankier than normally permitted for these few weeks.. so sorry about that... i've had to deal with more than handful of jerks, tricky customers and anal issues, in addition to design work, forestprints wholesale orders and some major hiccups... things seem to like to foul up all together at the same time.. and then you're reminded yet again that.. heck.. that's the way the real world works.. everyone for themselves and no one will give shit about you if they're not going to be benefitting from you in some way or the other... not everything is "ooh you're so nice! ooh i love you! ooh i'd be so glad to help! ooh no problem at all!" blah blah blah.... actually most times they aren't like that at all... and many times when it seems to be like that, it's mostly empty words which aren't sincere and mean nothing... so 'whack' wake up time again lynda..

anyhow.. i've another surprise coming up! so i'm excited about that.. and i'll keep up on thinking positive today... hope i don't lost control and snap or anything...

[... In his view (Mr Tang Wee Sung, who heads listed retail chain C.K. Tang), Singaporeans are generally not design conscious. Price is their overriding concern. "You'll be surprised. Even those who can afford it are not willing to spend," he said.

This absence of a sense for the aesthetics can be partly attributed to the lack of media support and fashion role models in Government, he said.

For example, newspapers do not put fashion stories on Page 1, he said.

And like Mr Tang, retailers insist they canno take the lead. Said the executive director of Wing Tai Retail, Helen Khoo:"If there's a market, retailers will be adventurous. Retailers cannot dictate."

... Still, Mr Tang appears to feel that Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping street, can do with less.

Instead of developing every square inch of space, leave some fallow as a green lung for shoppers to take a break and enjoy the area's buzz, he said.

He also suggested the setting up of bohemian areas, where retail start-ups can form their base.

"Being bohemian is a dirty word here. Anything that looks bohemian is likely to be torn down, redeveloped and sanitised to death," he said.

"We're not a theme park," he added.]

and i couldn't agree more... like i've always commented... this place is way toooo sanitised and rigid in almost every way possible, from the politics and education to the arts, culture, and social mentality and mannerisms...

i'm not one of those who always feel that the grass is always greener on the other side, and do not appreciate our country's advancement, peace and cleanliness. on the contrary, i'm proud of all these good positive stuff.. but there's only so much i can take of superficial empty goodness... the backward social culture and mentality is lagging so far behind that it simply cannot catch up with our country's way advanced economic status...

the beautiful boracay beach resort i was at

and i miss jordan lots! but shhh... lest my kitties get jealous and start to ignore me... hee..

i've decided to start selling on ebay, many of my cool crafts/ handmade finds from my trips abroad, craft materials, and also just other 'stuff' which i've too many of and simply have no more space for! so if anything catches your eye.. ;)

back to work

there's fireworks everynight where i stayed at, filipinos just love to have the feista mood and celebrate anything and everything, thus the fireworks every now and then, even at the residential areas

i visited a friend who actually lives in the squatter areas, it's a long story how i got to know her... anyways, according to her, her "house" is slightly "higher class" than the regular squatter housing.. if there's such a thing.. anyways, she didn't like me to take pictures of her little humble abode.. it looks really bad on the outside, with zinc boards, ply wood planks, plastic coverings as windows etc. and the air there wasn't very fresh, but on the inside.. woah.. she has a panasonic dvd player, a 36" sharp tv, a sony stereo system, vcr player, a microwave, mid-sized refrigerator, a little stove, and a cooler fan! this picture was taken on the way up the hill to visit her and bring us all out for a nice dinner out, this dude was zigzagging throughout the way uphill, taking up the entire road, disregarding our driver's honkings... just another day on the road there...

my beloved digital camera which i've had for the past 2 years was stolen whilst in laguna! :( which may explain why there's unintentionally more depressing photos than the paradise resorts... b's my sweet angel... he's getting me a new one this weekend *hugs*

so anyways, fortunately... i had already prepared half of my forestprints surprise before i left! more to come! ;D
